Sample Portrait -Head & Shoulders
This was not a commissioned portrait, but what I called one of my character portraits. My focus was on developing a face that expressed emotion, strength, hardship, still striving forward. It sold immediately the first time I entered it in a juried show. You may notice this is a different style than my other portraits. There was little blending of colors, leaving the grayed tones of the paper as one of the values (darks and lights) in his features. This would be an example of a pastel head and shoulders plus hat.
